@beaudom Maybe you're so ignorant that you don't realize that there is classical dressage which died out about 10 years ago and then it evolved with new standards. This is what is called modern dressage. Maybe you should research before you act like you know oh so much. My comment was regarding modern dressage. This video in particular. An intelligent person has a difficult time debating with limited space. I see you have not backed up anything other than with insults. Wow, great debater.

@babyhorsey6 you make me laugh your so up yourself its hilarious. you where not at all clear with your statements you did not mention anything about the abuse at this level all you said was dressage is bad and unnatural. Now you say its only this kind of dressage you dislike. if you stopped contradicting yourself and made a clear point people might actuary find it easier to take your opinion seriously. Cos right now you just coming across a another nut case banging on about omg riding is so bad

This is the most adorable thing ever! :|

@beaudom You kind of proved my point with your own statement. It is those practices which are very harmful. Every horse can benefit from dressage if done properly. It is THIS particular dressage that I dislike, or has everyone forgotten the blue tongue incident? It is the dressage at the higher levels that I disagree with. I, for one don't care if you guys enjoy this. Plain and simple, I DON'T.

@beaudom Really? Did I troll through the comments section to reply to those with a different view than I? NO. Did you? YES. Did many others? YES. Ignorance. True ignorance to believe I don't have a right to my own personal beliefs. I do, and I will believe what I want. I will reply to those who feel it is their job to troll for opposing comments to harass those who feel differently than you. Yes, that is what makes you ignorant. Again, my opinion remains unchanged. I can provide links,no room!

@babyhorsey6 i think the only one being egotistical and ignorant is you! there are many dressage practices that do cause horses harm such as rollkur and the life style many top level dressage horses live e.g no turnout or socialization with other horses however the actual dressage movements themselves done properly by a horse trained in a thoughtful way by someone who genuinely considers what is best for the horse is in no way harmful. can you provide links this research you speak of?
By: babyhorsey6. on 03 Sep 10, 04:29:36
@akrogirl And clearly you people can't understand that I disagree with you. Maybe you should attempt to research the effects this has on horses long term. Are you all so egotistical that you can't understand someone NOT thinking this is the coolest thing in the world? Or are you all so ignorant that you can't understand what egotistical means? I disagree with many things to do with dressage. Do I care that you disagree with my opinion? No. Not at all. I think it make you appear ignorant. FEI-GFU

@babyhorsey6 - Clearly you do not have a horse bred for dressage. I have a WB mare who naturally carries herself like Matine. She does canter pirouettes in turnout for fun. If you watch a horse at play, you will see almost all of the movements in these tests. I have even seen a horse do one tempi changes in the hunter ring, which were not appreciated by the trainer ;-) My mare did not enjoy jumping, but she loves doing dressage. She is also considered by my trainers to be an FEI prospect.

whats a paddock??
By: beaudom. on 02 Sep 10, 05:52:41
@babyhorsey6 dressage (when done properly) is far more natural then most other horse sports. By you reasoning a guess you think horses should not be ridden at all then? since the are not designed for riding either. and as for the bear riding a bicycle... all the moves a dressage horse preforms are moves horses do do naturally playing in the field. i dont see many wild bears riding bikes so that comparison is not valid.

@kendall7364 I'm glad you think so. I think otherwise and that is that. I am not trying to change your mind, why do you care what my opinion is? It is what it is. I can't see how it would bother you that I think this is un natural movement for a horse. It is very pretty to watch, but a horse's body isn't meant for this. My opinion is what it is and you seem to have an issue understanding that. You can teach a bear to ride a bicycle, but does he enjoy it? Is he relaxed? I doubt it.

@babyhorsey6 does she really look unhappy to you? I think she looks totally relaxed

@dagwitdicl If you dig deeper though, you'll find out that that wasn't true. They hadn't yet bred her, but they were planning on it.

@EverythingEquine01 She was put down in January of 2009 because she broke her leg in a paddock accident.

@SmilesAllRoundxx1 a foamy mouth for a horse means that he is chewing on the bit, a.k.a., he is relaxed enough not to worry about running away. When a horse plays with the bit it means that he is enjoying himself.
By: SmilesAllRoundxx1. on 31 Aug 10, 08:56:30
@pegasus97 I dont think it's cruel, but i do agree that a foamy mouth is not attractive. I dont know why it is so desirable..?....a slobberry mouth is a sign of discomfort. The horse is not swallowing the saliva he is producing, meaning the bit is in the way. For a human to understand what this is like, put your chin near your chest and put your finger in your mouth for over 5 minutes. This isnot cruel to the horse, but it isn't pleasant.
By: twilird. on 31 Aug 10, 02:26:09
Omg you can almost see slack in his reins! That is an amazing horse...
By: missymatch123. on 31 Aug 10, 01:45:48
Horses foaming at the mouth mean they have good contact with the bit which is required in high level dressage.
